Emsys® created three synergetic solutions that allow the appropriate connectivity and transparency on a globalising market.

Besides our 3 products, Emsys® offers professional network services that guarantee excellent infrastructure to the software solutions that we offer. In order to offer a one stop shopping solution, Emsys® has also all the required certifications to sell a broad range of hardware. This business unit of Emsys not only works for our paper related customers but also offers their services to a broader range of companies willing to receive professional network and hardware support.

Our products and services are merely the result of strategic decisions and carefully listening to our customers. So next to our standard software products we regularly offer tailor made solutions to our customers based on our technical and paper supply chain expertise.

1. PSS® – Paper Scanning Solution®

Emsys® Paper Scanning Solution® is a dedicated scanning system for the printing, the packaging, the paper logistics and the paper producing company.

PSS® handheld and integrated scanner technology reads ALL barcodes from all the paper producers world wide for the identification of paper reels and paper pallets. So no relabelling is required!

PSS® is probably the most installed system in the world, scanning more than 10 million tons of paper a year at large and medium sized companies handling paper. PSS® is linked to most MIS systems in the world and is running now in more than 12 countries.

The system is multilingual and developed with the newest technologies on a Linux platform.

PSS® not only offers the standard modules following the movements of the paper such as

Receiving paper
The location of the paper in the warehouse
The consumption of the paper for a certain job
The registration of the paper damages
The registration of the rest reels

It also is continuously growing with new functionalities based on the requirements of our customers and brings extra functionalities such as:

an inventory module

tracing back the origin of the paper and the optimalisation of the paper quality.

managing customer furnished paper
tracing the paper cutting activity
pre-picking and virtual pre-picking of paper
managing FSC paper
tracing paper in external warehouses
receiving inks and plates
receiving inserts, spare parts or “gimmicks”
tracing semi finished products
tracing finished products

One of our next big challenges for the moment is adding more quality feature into the system. Secondly we are about to offer more automatisation by using RFID technology and further integrate PSS® with other applications and machinery using the market standards such as JDF or any other ways.

What are the benefits of using PSS®?

Of course every customer is different. Some buy the system because they want to improve the service to their customers, some because of quality reasons such as better tracing of finished products or because of certification reasons such as FSC or ISO and others just because they want to save money by better managing their paper stocks or avoide using wrong paper in the production. If you want more specific information about the ROI, our consultants would be grateful to go through our checklists and analysis after having seen your operation.

Paper InfoLink (PIL®) was developed following to the requirements of some major European printers and logistics companies. They wanted to provide real time and accurate information to their strategic customer's paper owners.

The login screen that gives secured access to the customer

The Dashboard with the global overview

Overview of the deliveries at all printing houses and external warehouses

Details on the deliveries on reel or pallet level

Stock overview per printer and external warehouse

Overview of the paper consumption per job or edition

Depending on the collaboration, different scenario’s and combinations are possible:

The solution for the publisher/print buyer:
The print buyer can have real time direct access to its paper stocks at the printer or at his external warehouse.

The solution for the printer:
He can improve his service to his customer by managing the “customer's furnished paper” on reel and pallet level without too much extra administrative work. A printer with multi printing facilities can give a tool to the central paper buyer that gets real time information about the paper stocks, the deliveries, the consumption and the damages at all the printing facilities of the group.
The tool can also be used to get access to partner printers using your paper in subcontracting jobs.

The solution for the producer:
The producer can use the tool to get transparency in his consignment stock at printers or get transparency of his stock at different warehouses.

The solution for the logistics provider:
He can use the tool to give access to his customers in real time and offer an accurate Track and Trace solution. He can also use the tool to get access in real time at their logistics subcontracting partners in order to have detailed and automatic access and transparency.

The integration and collaboration is done via a highly sophisticated, professional and secured technical set up that is supervised by the Emsys® Datacenter with a guaranteed Service Level Agreement.

Emsys® has been doing EDI projects over 15 years using the different market standards such as PAPINET, EDIPAP, EDIFACT or any other used communication method that the customer is asking us.

Based on this large experience and a volume today of handling more than 1000 messages a day, we have totally redeveloped our concept.

Doing EDI projects is not just using a tool. Most important is to manage the project and work according to a professional methodology. Emsys® developed a methodology that ensures a successful implementation using a Project Initiation Document (PID), a project plan and a detailed test scenario.

Our methodology is proven and the products that we use are market standards that have been adopted by Emsys® and tailored to the specific requirements of the paper industry.

An important aspect of an EDI project is not only the set-up of the project, but also the service afterwards. A professional helpdesk, an accurate monitoring tool and a good Service Level Agreement are of major importance for the successful use of EDI connections.
